For the time being, we only welcome reviews about
travel within India. We also welcome reviews that are relevant but pertain to a
region geographically outside India, say, the yatra to Manas Sarovar.
-
The most appreciated letters are informative. For
instance, “The best way to get around Darjeeling is by walking. Many parts of
the town are ‘pedestrians only’. To make matters more complicated, there are
also innumerable flights of steps going down the hillside. So be prepared to
walk and be prepared for steep climbs.”
-
Present your reviews without insults, rants,
name-calling and vulgarity. A well-written review would say: “We found the
service slow and careless. Our room service order took 50 minutes to arrive and
that after two follow-up calls. Both the person who took the order and the
waiter who served us remained unapologetic and indifferent – this after we were
served naans instead of rotis (our order) and starters that had gone cold.”
Avoid: “The man who took the order was an imbecile and the waiter a moron!”

Before you click the ‘Submit’ button, just read what
you have entered once. Correct and modify if required. Trim words if you deem
fit, but not information.

To secure greater readership for your review, make
compelling points. “Efforts to keep Kodaikanal plastic-litter free have paid
off beautifully” works better than “Kodaikanal is so beautiful.”

Be lively. Have fun whether you are letting off steam
or sharing a positive experience. For example: “We felt Agra’s crafts were
being made for and sold only to foreigners. Fancy shops with fancy prices.
Every tour operator has a tie-up with one or the other. Waste of time unless
you have a lot of money to spare.’
